Whatever he wants it to, of course.
In the late 1800s and early 1900s there was a glut of end-times predictions based on "Bible-based" calculations that spat out dates in a convenient torrent. As each date passed, "new light" was shed and new dates produced. Apparently, none of these men who were making these numbers say whatever they wanted them to say ever seemed to figure out that they were making the numbers say whatever they wanted them to say.
On the other hand, I do like the idea that there was a god and he was fucking with their heads.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
