hmm come on guys, your preferred god will just be against rational thought and law of physic. We all already know there's no such thing as magical or mystical creature... even I don't have any problem to accept that god is delusion, but only if he is being defined to certain condition.
direct telepathy? hmm, it would be the same with how a belief work.. people will ask, how do you know that the one who spoke to your brain is god...
Okay, let me tailor the question a bit for an easier answer. Let say there's an holy book written in this century that would suit to other few century. What kind of sign of God would you wish to be written. Like "a massive earthquake is going to happen 10 years later", or sign that tells how much stars are there, around our galaxy, then the scientists of a few next century probably has developed some kind tech to map every star around our galaxy.
Or any answer like that..

Why not written in the sky each night, in a language everyone can understand? Why all the need for hiding and subterfuge? Doesn't make a whit of sense.
There is nothing supernatural about the Quran. All I see is men writing down stories and then coercing others "it's true". No gods are required to be involved or ever appear.

It even existed in other culture, in fact they're our ancestor doing! and they're actually 'us'!. This age, and century, we humanity has reach the point of civilization that we don't need that age no more. Even woman have no problem with being naked in public, because civilization is protecting them. But let says, someone started nuclear war. And we gone a step back into that kind of age.
