That can work both ways. How do I know that you did not invent the idea of 'seeking answers beyond the material' as a way of comforting yourself when faced with the possibility that the material universe did not answer your questions in the manner that you had hoped?
As a practical person i do not believe anyone unless it can be established that a particular thing is working.
Spirituality is not easy and in the beginning is rather very hard to follow but as everything else after some time you see the proper result.
If you want to get a degree you got to study and suffer for long time but sooner or later you will see the result.
So is not a question to seek a comfort but a way to achieve something real that stay with you.
