I, for the most part, have a principle of live and let live. If there should be a mission of sorts, then it's to giving a response to theism, and then only in the case of being challenged.
I can't stand atheistic activism or "atheist proselytizing" which I like to call it, because it seems so reactionary. Most people I think, atheist or theist, don't care for the most part and have a pretty balanced outlook on how to behave. So, most people don't interfere too much with one another.
If you want to be an activist, don't use the banner of atheism, because atheism is just one statement - sure an important one - but it's just one defining position. Instead use some positive message or ideology; like Humanism or something.
