@ MysticKnight, Yes we are a republic, but we have a democracy as our way of ruling ourselves. We are able to rid ourselves of the same ones we elect if they do not represent us as we like. This republic has lasted this long and hopefully longer because of the democratic practices we have.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
