Next to never. Though, after my first miscarriage my husband's grandmother told me she was going to light a candle for the baby. I have absolutely no idea what that means. She's Catholic. I don't understand it. She said she'd pray for us. She is his grandmother, so I accept it as her offer of sympathy and that's it. I don't hold it against her.
Well that's crappy. I understand that prayer makes people feel like they have power when they are actually powerless. What I don't understand is why they use it as an excuse not to do something when they have every ability to do so.
