During the American-Vietnam War a Huey returned from a mission and a few guys were inspecting damage to the helicopter.
They found several arrows stuck in several places in the frame.
One maintenance tech said, "How the fuck can anyone beat us with bows and arrows for crying out loud?"
The pilot said, "How can we beat a people that will fight against modern weapons of war even down to using bows and arrows?"
Something basically like that.
Weapons will help you fight a war. It's really the resolve of the opposing forces that decides who wins.
Better weapons just help keep your casuality numbers down until the war is over.
I sit on the fence of the gun debate. I grew up in gun culture. My parents house was full of guns of all types. Found under beds, in closets, all over the place.
While I agree these mass shootings are getting out of control, I'm loath to agree that they government should take away more of our rights.
Even if they completely illegalized guns in the US they'd still be here.
For one, we can't keep drugs or illegal immigrants from streaming across our borders. We wouldn't be able to keep out guns.
For two, how would we locate all the currently legal guns? Yeah, you might need a background check to purchase a gun from a store.
But I have every right to sell that gun privately to anyone of age. I've got a gun I bought a long time ago like that. The government wouldn't have any way to know I own it.
Before we get all worked up talking about whether or not we should do something, we might as well figure out if it is feasible.
I seriously doubt more strict gun laws would be anything more than symbolic. While at the same time emboldening the government that they can start considering what other rights they can trick us into giving up.
Even if you disagree with my opinion. And that's all this is, I hope you would be honest enough to at least admit these are valid questions that need to be researched before we go off "half cocked".
Did you see wut I did there? Rahul made a funny.
