Why would jellyfish thrive on overfishing and pollution? Thinking

I've caught maybe 2 small jellyfish this season, and seen one smashed to bits in my brother's boat. I've seen Jelly years... this is not a jellyfish-laden Cook Inlet.

Which is to say... not world wide Wink
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
