I'll tell you the source for it. From the 1600's until the early-1900's the US South was almost entirely rural with little new immigration coming in from the late 1700's until about the mid 1900's. Small towns dotting the landscape everywhere.

The US Northeast was industrializing suburban centers with a constant influx of new immigrants. So when people from the North visited the South they would see all these tiny towns dotting the countryside instead of the huge bustling cities they were used to.

So they made jokes that everyone must be fucking their own cousins. But it was just a joke that northern city dwellers made toward small towns.

You shouldn't even engage in this discussion, Germans. Being an Aryan German your own people's guilt over your recent past is too great for you to view this in a rational manner. Your people's guilt is too great for you to even have freedom of speech in your country.

The concentration camp guards were constantly trying to one up each other on how evil they could be. During the Nuremburg trials many of them even grinned with pride as they sat on the stand and the prosecutors told the judges how much horror and pain they inflicted on their helpless victims.
