I remember when I reached 20 and the false sense of teenage immortality went out the window. It was quite a terrifying moment for me at that time. My atheist parents couldn't offer any comforting lies. They just offered their sympathy. That was enough. Eventually, I reached the acceptance stage of grief. Christians and Muslims are still stuck in the denial/bargaining stage.
