A lot of the problems today in the middle east comes from the tribal culture and quite frankly from poverty. When you live in poverty it is easy to find a greener path on the otherside and justify some of the worst crimes. As muslims move into this country and given time their culture changes. Religion doesn't triumph culture, it is the other way around.
Christianity today is very different from the Christianity that did all those things.
That's what I was saying the muslims can change but the religion will never change. For a lot of muslims even in western countries religion is closely intertwined with culture and their community. They are not extremists because living a nonextremist life is somewhat more enjoyable and they eventually adopt new ideas. But that's different than saying religion has nothing to do with what is going on with those extremist muslims, of course it plays a part, religion is almost inseparable from their culture. The middle east isn't the only spot on earth with poverty. US has lots of poverty as well.
