Reminds me of what happened here during the 1980s. Back then Austria had a very leftwing goverment and it was a golden age for being employed by the state. One of the companies owned by the state and still owned by the state was the national rail services.
During the end of the 1980s a male corpse was found in an appartment in Vienna, turned out that he had been dead for 9 years and that he use to be eployed by the national rail company.
But despite never showing up at work for 9 years because he was dead, the company still payed his paychecks each payday, invested in his pention fund and didnt fire him.
