Probably quite a few. I think due to long standing hostility, there is a loss of perspective when westerners discuss Iran. Of countries which claim supremacy of traditional islam, Iran is actually amongst the most liberal and modernist in its approach to education. Unlike some Islamic societies, Iran strives to be no more than one century behind the times. Our friends the Saudis and our soon-to-be negotiation partners the Afgani Talibans aim for the more typical five or eight centuries behind.
