In the nicest possible way daan, how would providing evidence that God was not needed, even if the fundies accepted it (they won't) mean it was over for religion.
I mean there is massive, Overwhelming, uncompromising and compelling evidence for the earth being more than 6k years old... And a good percentage of Christians still believe that!
I'm afraid you are confusing facts with belief. If religious dogma was susceptible to scientific discovery it would have long since vanished.
