Kids in public american schools have to "pledge allegiance" to your country, every single day?!
Sheesh! No wonder you guys come across as patriotic freaks, on occasion...

Yeah it's stupid as fuck. The Supreme Court ruled no one has to say it or stand up for it, but there is absolutely no enforcement of that ruling. Teachers will tell students to at least stand, guaranteed, no matter what.

Americans get doubly indoctrinated.... once for religion, once for country...
Me, I never had to say any of that... many fellow portuguese don't even know the words of the national anthem... but most of us do agree that this is the best country in the world: good climate, good food, good looking women... too bad we can't get half decent politicians...
