I remember on a Christian forum an argument in all seriousness that the US should have nuked Pakistan and Afghanistan after 9/11, that innocent lives were not a reason not to retaliate in full, and that it did not even matter if it was the guilty who were punished, so long as someone was! This was discussed quite calmly as a civil point.
But I once said "awww hell" and got a formal warning along with a stream of "we don't want to be made to read such obscenity".
Isn't it strange how people's views on what is offensive or obscene can vary.
Indeed. My dad throws out what I consider to be obscenities all the time. Like how gays should be put down. But god forbid I say shit, he loses his hat.
I'm thinking that's a good way to address it; dad, you're throwing around obscenities and I don't think I should have to be subjected to them. But then again, I know he'll pull out freedom of speech and opinion, maybe even accuse me of censorship.
There's just no winning with them when every bit of knowledge in their minds begin at such a loss.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
