Opacity problem

Opacity problem
Hey guys

I've been slowly trying to teach myself how to create a website (don't worry it's not another atheist website I promiseWink). I've done most of the html and css but I'm a little stuck at the moment with a opacity problem. I know I'm probably trying to reinvent the wheel and making a lot of extra work but it is fun learning.

So for those of you who's keen and up for a challange here it is:

My menu list is going to be a picture which I want to be faded (say opacity at 40%) and with hover I would like to opacity to be 100%. "Active" and "visited" is going to be the same picture (both with opacity at 100%) but just with different colour background once activated.

The big thing at the moment is also that the text on the picture is also faded with the picture. How can I have it so that the picture is faded but the text is bold at all times?

Hope some of you can help out. Thanks Smile
