A cultural conservative accepts that modernity & progress are essential to the development & strength of our culture. Think about all the strongest cultures of the past; the Greeks & Romans. Both of them were very open & had attitudes that would be considered progressive today. They could not be brought down so easily. They also were cultural imperialist & did not allow reactionary elements to infiltrate their culture. That is what the cultural conservative wants, a strong & open culture, but one that defends itself from sabotage by inferior cultures.(February 14, 2014 at 7:20 pm)EgoRaptor Wrote: A lost of people get these two terms mixed up & think that they are synonymous. Nothing could be farther from the truth. A cultural conservative is a defender of liberty while a social conservative is the enemy of liberty.Well, if the so called "progressive" things you're speaking of are actually destroying your culture, what do your cultural conservatists do? They merely talk.
Cultural conservatism is the desire to defend one's culture against the barbaric mongrel hordes. It accepts that culture is a flowing river & also accepts progress. A cultural conservative is likely to support gay marriage & other progressive things.
Social conservatism is rejecting progress. A social conservative is the most stubborn enemy of liberty. They wish to keep their culture from improving at all costs. They are reactionary & fascistic.
I myself am a staunch cultural conservative & cultural imperialist (as I believe we must safeguard, secularize & forcibly expand Western culture). I am also a social anarchist/anarchist communist & internationalist.
A good example of a cultural conservative would be Geert Wilders. A good example of a social conservative would be Rick Santorum.
Any questions?
The real people who conserve culture are in the villages where culture is still a visible part of one's life, whereas in the cities, culture has been vanquished by the cosmopolitan filth you are advocating. Liberty, as its called today.
