Cultural Identities and Ships of Theseus

Guys, prolly not the best time to bring this up but it's been niggling at me for a while.
After watching a bit on France and what's going on there, many commentators are just saying that the latest troubles are only just the ones which broke the camel's back recently and that tensions have been building for a long time. They mention losing their Cultural Identity as the crux root cause.

What do you think?
Since "our" ("our" meaning whatever it means to you) cultural identity is a permanently dynamic variable, and is therefore different with every generation.
Many countries' native (whatever the hell that means) nationals blame it on immigration and particularly the recent influx of refugees.
Is that what it is? It wasn't an issue at the turn of the 20th century, in fact ethnic diversity was celebrated then. It IS what made America great!
In Australia, same deal, come looking for gold and also to escape the 2 world wars. "Those" immigrants made and defined our country.
So why all the problems now? My take is we (the west) lose (or dilute) our sense of cultural identity when the "new" people (whoever they are) are (wait for it!), are not sharing the Christian values on which our countries were founded! (Whatever the fuck that means also!).

Basically folks, anyone who loves their country (whatever it is which makes it "their" country) is just a proud sentimental fool stuck in the past who isn't prepared to change with the times.
Racism is a dirty word. The world's population is out of control and we all need to share the "burden".
I'm sure there's some 100 year old Americans alive today who still believe that America turned to shit the day slavery was abolished. lol.

I think it's poignant to mention the Ships of Theseus in context with national pride also.
You see, in 100 years, the whole population of the world would have recycled, there'd be new demographics of people, new laws, maybe some paradigm shifts in technology or other geopolitical events (eg: United states of Europe, United States of Africa, etc) but the good old American spirit will never die!
Sorry guys, that died centuries ago! As did Britain's.

If it was true then Brasil would be superpower and Japan would be 3rd world country. Economy is what made America great and influx of socialist immigrants will cause its collapse. US would be in much better shape if it imported immigrants from Asian tigers.

Cultural dilution doesn’t trouble me. Cultures have always shifted, grown, shrunk, diluted.  Why should a cultural identity by sacrosanct? I identify as Irish, but the Ireland I grew up in isn’t the Ireland of today (they suffered when I left, poor sods  ) and I’m ok with that.

I think it’s important to remember that ALL cultural identities are transient.
