Western Ukranians don't want increased Russian ties - and why should they?
The Russian economy is moribund, the wealth mostly in the hands of oligarchs and the culture increasingly repressive.
Between the choices of Europe and the one choice of Russia, Euromaidens have the right idea.
Kinda like here in the states.
The issue is a bit more complex that this. Yes the western part of Ukraine wants closer ties to the west. But the eastern, industrial portion of the country has closer ties to Moscow, and sees closer ties with the west as a threat. Though I don't agree with their paranoia, I can understand it.

Evidence is against that claim; there are videos of police shooting to kill from a distance.
Police are using AKMSs and snipers.

She was shot in the neck.
This is not just a right wing protest. It encompasses both wings.
Police are not arresting people.
They are killing them.
As disturbing as that first video is, I can't tell who is killing who.

Oh, and John McCain wants to bomb something.
It was clear when he attended a certain motorcycle rally in South Dakota that he wife was more likely to be elected Miss Buffalo Chips than he would to be elected president of the free world.
