The argument from evil does not posit that God cannot exist because evil exists. This argument points out a serious flaw in the 'benevolent god' rhetoric. The point is not that men do evil things, but that seriously bad things exist for no apparent cause except a malevolent deity if you choose to believe in one. Terrible diseases, natural disasters, genetic disorders---why do these exist? To punish people for their sins? For a god that created man knowing they'd be sinful?
Logic is not the word, my drive-by friend.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
