I do actually have a memory of an awkward present. Though, to be honest I think it was more of an embarrassing present, and I think I was the only one who understood it at the time.
It was at a time, in my early teens, when I began reading actual novels instead of the children's books the school library contained. My family was aware that I was becoming quite the avid reader, and one Christmas I suppose they decided to get me books as presents. I am uncertain if the presents were a joke, but I believe to this day that they were not. In my father's rather ignorant way, he gave me children's books for Christmas. I remember one of them was a silly few page length Goofy book on exercise.
I think I hid my embarrassment and my disappointment, and I never stated anything aloud. In time, the books did become better once my family actually took a more invested look into what it was I preferred to read. At the time, it was mostly Dean Koontz and Anne Rice, two of my all-time favorite authors even to this day.
