Like you Jacob, I have little to zero interest in heaven and hell where they don't affect us here and now. Of course they do affect us here and now, but the question is framed specifically at what we are not interested in. But let me share my thoughts on it with you...
I believe that God is love > good > just. My view of the world is very different to a person who imagines the world to be unjust. With a worldview framed by injustice, that person mocks believers in a just God because they cannot understand how justice is served. It is in the eternal soul that justice is served.
