Are you really any different than what you were before, Jacob? All you relieved yourself was from truckload of bullshit.

It's hard to say. I guess I consider that I've crossed a line. I'm only an inch away from where was before so no, I'm not dramatically different. It's just that bits have been dropping off my personal theology for a while now. Today's minor epiphany was the concept of sacrificial, agape love as an evolutionary advantage. The warm fluffiness I was enjoying may thus be nothing more than my brain rewarding me for a behaviour which gives my genes benefit, by releasing fun chemicals when I think about it. What I was thinking of as special is no more so than the kick I get from sex or chocolate.

At which point what remains no longer has the cohesion to be described as Christianity.

I'm not happy about this, but there it is.

It was hard for me when I recognized that how I was feeling, couldn't be 'ignored.' And that just led to a different path. I'm happy you are exploring this, at least? I think (personally) you will be much happier as an atheist. Happy in the truest sense of the word.

But, I'm biased now.
