That is why I left Christianity. Because I no longer could continue making excuses for what I knew it stood for.
I know where you are coming from, and I understand. I sort of took this position, but, when I saw verses explaining other verses and the conclusion you must come up with if you don't want the Quran contradicting itself, then these verses don't seem to be problematic but it was rather in a narrow interpretation we had without keeping our minds open.
You seem to think interpretation against classical view would be going against what it explicitly states, but I think often, classical views are going against what Quran explicitly states and are following scholars instead.
