I don't find it weird. Why would being weird be something you apparently don't want to do? Being weird is a good thing
Anyway, your diagnosis is likely correct, but it may ultimately be that because you like the smell of the guitar stings: you enjoy playing the guitar. Or perhaps other explanations (such as mutual development) are possible.
