* For Miss Quill
What is displayed is a finished tapestry of a painting by Carl Spitzweg named " Carl Spitzweg (1808-1885)
"Liebhaber im Walde"c 1860
original painting
This is crafted from a "stencilled" canvas using wool and 6 strand "pearle" cotton thread. It depicts a Milkmaid and a Hunter about to walk into the "Schwatzwald" (the German "Black forest") as if they are lovers. Most of the tapestry is varying shades of green and the Hunter and Milkmaid are centre frame.
This was purchased in 1988 and for varying reasons has taken until now to complete. It still has to be washed, stretched and framed and placed in my "Office" near my Cuckoo Clock.
Yes I have a German/ Scandanavian heritage.
This is amazing. I want to say you mentioned this in the shout box, that it took you 20 years?? Incredible. I have always loved this, but lacked the patience to ever try it.
