Actually, Thomas Jefferson wrote. . . "We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable" Ben Franklin suggested that he change it (by crossing it off and replacing it ) to "We hold these truths to be self-evident." Thomas is still the man, though.

Franklin was pretty epic as well. Either form is good, I'm just glad Jefferson wrote what he did

I'm glad he wrote it too. However, I have to admit that I much prefer the Ben Franklin version. The word sacred had to go.
