From what I've seen, they have done some calculations sort of like the Drake equation. But they fill them with probabilities dragged out of their asses and with insane assumptions about mechanisms and processes. So you get a claim that the self assembly of some complicated bio-molecule has a chance of 10^-100 of happening. Then there is some sort of bare assertion that anything with a probability less than 10^-50 is an impossibility and so self assembly is proved impossible QED.
This generally happens in an environment where such self assembly is happening. Universally, they never see this as ironic.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?
