Are you admitting then, that the Church is so perfect that She cannot falter here on earth? Or are you setting unrealistic expectations. It is the same old song and dance every time. I say this, you respond with the Crusades and child abuse cases that, while significant issues WITHIN the Church, that is, issues that needed to be worked out, just as a team focusses on issues in practice, really are beside the point of the Church's mission.
I have no expectations at all for the Church. Except that it history will likely repeat itself with Christian policies of denying and persecuting anything that doesn't fit their worldview. I seriously couldn't give a shit about Catholicism unless it impinges on my life.
And don't you dare compare the systematic cover up of child rape to a kink that needs to be worked out in practice. That is offensive, if nothing else.
By all measures, the Church's mission is first and foremost to protect itself. Apparently by any means necessary.
No my friend, there you are wrong. The Church's mission is the salvation of souls, and She only fights back because she has fallen under a two-thousand year siege by all of the rest of the world. But I thank all of you for awakening the Sleeping Giant.

The motivations of anyone who remains a catholic after all the revelations about their crimes certainly are suspect, though.
Would you have revoked American citizenship after the Watergate Scandal? Be honest.
