Peripatapis Alba
Length:10 cm
Weight:unknown
Life Expectancy:9-11 years
First appeared:unknown
Location: Like the name says, this animal likes to live in caves like the wynberg cave in south Africa. The caves must be deep, moist and dark.
Taxonomy:
Class:Udeonychophora
Order:Euonychophora
Family
eripatopsidae
Genus
eripatopsis
Sepcies
eripatopsis Alba
Diet: Eats insects and arachnids that live in its caves.
Anatomy: Like other velvet worms this animal has a slime gland in which to ensnare prey. They also have antenna. The most interesting is its hydrostatic skeleton. This skeleton is acted on by muscles, and provide internal bodily fluid.
Behavior:This animal is actually social. In fact they can eat in packs, and with a social hierarchy, with the dominant female feeding first, then other females, then the males, last the young get to eat. The hierarchy is based on how many social interactions an individual has had. Also the social interaction will lead to a clustering to form an aggregate. Males and females are the most common and cluster the best, males and males are the least common and get along the worst.
Reproduction: These animals reproduce sexually, but not much is known on its perental care or its reproductive cycle.
Interactions with other animals: Not much interaction is known outside humans, its prey and each other.
