aubentonia Madagascariensis
Diet: They eat small insect larvae, fruits, nectar, seeds, eggs, fungi, and nuts. This means they are omnivores.
Anatomy: The Aye-Aye has on long finger on each on of its hands. This finger helps the animal dig for food in bark and to hold food. This finger is not the only tool. It also has ear ridges which point in a specific direction so that they can hear echolocation signals from where they hit on the bark.
Behavior: This animal is mainly solitary. However when two aye-ayes meet they will eat and socialize with each other. This happens when territories cross. They mostly forge when awake. They begin to forge about 30 minutes before or three hours after sunset. They take very little rest when awake.
Reproduction: Females mate with more than one male. The mating season is in summer from October to February. The female will give birth every 2-3 years. She gives birth to one offspring and takes care of it.
Relationships with other animals: Humans are the most interactive with the Aye-Aye. Humans believed that they would bring omens, and they represented death. Some also say that what ever it points its finger at will die unless it is killed. The Aye-Aye is killed because some believe evil spirits will leave if you kill one.
