Yeah, Robert Jordan died and someone else is finishing the series. It was incredibly well written, but just as incredibly overly descriptive. Quite a chunk to chew.
The Sword of Truth books blow that TV series away, of course. The show is okay (I do enjoy it), but doesn't even compare, really. There are a lot of books in that series, but they are definitely worth reading. I personally consider it my all time favorite series. Goodkind spends a lot of time railing against the evils of organized religion through his main character, while presenting a wonderfully detailed world of magic and adventure. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
