can't die, he's easily the most interesting character on the show.
Spoiler talk/rant:
Too true. I would actually stop watching if he died. But I read up on where his storyline is going. I'm not really keen on it, the best thing about him is the interplay between him and his family members, without that it might not be quite as good.
In all honesty though, I'm kind of getting sick of how GoT never really goes anywhere. It seems to be paced so slowly. I know this is probably because it's a tv show, but damn, I wanna see Daenarys launching her army and attacking Westeros by now. They've been going on about white walkers since the very beginning, and 4 seasons in they've done pretty much fuck all. Every time a character gets killed off it's almost like the story just resets back the beginning, or some other guy you've not heard of is introduced. Admittedly I haven't read the books, but I've seen people who have read them complain about the same sort of thing in the books themselves. How inevitably nobody really 'wins' and it just ends up frustrating you.
I mean, does George RR Martin actually have an ending for this shit?
Not that I necessarily want it to end, it's my favourite TV series, but I dunno, something drives me nuts about how none of the 'good guys' ever get a win. Like I get that that's part of the books major appeal. That it isn't fairytale in that sense. But any of the characters who you would consider as the 'good guys' don't seem to go anywhere. I mean, Jon's storyline typifies it. He goes and joins up with Mance's army, ends up fucking off again and rejoins the nights watch, back to square one. All seems pretty pointless and it's kind of wearing a bit thin now after 4 seasons. The stakes don't really seem to be raised, the excitement and urgency is the same as it was in season 1 in all honesty.
/endrant.
Anyone else get this feeling?
Its not that Martin kills off the good guys - he blows away baddies too. His MO is to create a complex character with a convoluted back-story and then, just as you are warming to them, just as you are starting to think about all the things that character can and will do - then he bumps them off.
Invariably, additionally, he makes those deaths stupid, wasteful and unjust - surely you picked that up from the Red Wedding.
More ignominious ends await I assure you, one in particular.
