THe counter argument is that the only thing numerology proves is that someone decided to waste their time inventing numerology.
You can use numbers and maths to prove almost anything if you twist them enough.
Just look at the Ancient Aliens nuts trying to use the size of the pyramids, the number of steps it takes to walk down certain corridors, etc, that the pyramids were build by aliens from Sirius.
