If you want happiness then that implies you lack it, and if you want it, crave it, then it reminds yourself of the fact you don't have it and 1. Doesn't make you have it 2. Does remind yourself that you aren't happy and can intensify that unhappiness. Why would you want it if you already have it? The fact you desire it implies you don't have it and it doesn't do any good merely yearning for it.
And yes, you CAN pursue both happiness and success but if you're already satisfied then you might be less bothered. I don't want to be satisfied I want to push myself further. If I am satisfied then there would be no point in doing that.
Satisfaction is short-lived for me because it quickly turns to boredom. If I'm satisfied I don't want more and I find that very boring. Not being satisfied is much more interesting. In that sense I'd rather not be happy with things because it's more interesting to me
