Presumably then you prefer the Epic of Gilgamesh's creation myth, as well as its version of the great flood from which the tale of Noah's ark borrowed heavily, as the former predates the Genesis account by a thousand years?
What does that have to do with anything? I was talking about what the meaning was in a particular story in the Bible--not choosing between ancient stories.
Actually, it sounded like you were very much intent to trust the validity of the Abraham and Isaac story as told in the book of Genesis over the Qur'an because one was written "thousands" of years earlier. At any rate, if the meaning is that significant to you, I'd recommend studying the much older source material of Gilgamesh rather than the later Jewish version, for a better historical context of the myths.
