The earliest documentary evidence we have of the OT is in Greek. It pre-dates the Dead Sea Scrolls.
This may have been an oral tradition which existed for some time prior to the Greek occupation of Judah but the reliability of oral traditions is highly doubtful.
Once the holy blinders come off the historicity of the OT takes a big hit.
Copying of the Torah and other books of the ancient Hebrews was governed by a tedious process that made sure not one letter was misplaced. Once Moses wrote it down, it was not an oral tradition--it was continuously copied with care. Historicity rescued!
