You can absolutely say it's bullshit, it's some of the lamest bullshit ever devised. As a science student you should learn to cultivate skepticism.
Not only does the design not require knowledge of quantum mechanics, it doesn't even require a spirograph. The ancients drew (or carved) it because it's pretty and fairly easy.
