Siren!I was an officer in the Navy, and lived on MCAS Miramar out in San Diego. I know what you are dealing with. Especially in the Marine Corps, there is a much higher tendency to ostracize those that aren't the typical Marine or Marine family. It's mind numbingly clique-y and stupid. I'm sure it's the same in other services.
