Westboro wouldn't have been that far of the mark in '79. Wild in my lifetime it turned around and Westboro is an anachronism now. I recall ~1982 a gay friend had all the windows smashed in his car. We thought he was lucky to not have been killed at the time, and then later a friend of ours was killed in a drive by shooting at a gay bar.
