Do you know about apple trees?

I recently discovered that I have an apple tree behind my house. Who knows how long it's been suffering out there with no love or attention
Its apples are small and sad looking. I want to nurse it back to health. I mean,to be completely honest it's for selfish reasons. I just like apples.
Someone please givez me apple tree advice

I'm not a professional but I did help my grandfather in his apple orchard as a youngster. If I remember correctly, Small apples are a sign of the tree having trouble getting enough water in the growing season. While you could irrigate, sometimes all it needs is some moisture holding peaty soil a couple of feet off of the trunk like a big ring. Often this gets incorporated into the landscaping.
