RE: If atheists treated Christians like many Christians treat atheists...

Ok. What good reason can you think of for there being such a mess of things? Obviously there is a failure here, since the only time our society gets better is when we do it ourselves, and many of those times is when we look outside religion for answers. More often than not religion holds society back, instead of lifting it up.
I'm pretty sure the abrahamic religions do worship the same god. They just have disagreements on what they think their god wants because there's nothing really there to give definite answers. To clear up the mess made by human authors who have added and taken away through the centuries until it's impossible to follow the entire holy book, or to figure out what is meant literally, and what is meant metaphorically.
Like the Adam and Eve story. It's very hard to take literally, but if you don't take it literally then you have no origin of sin. You have nothing for Jesus' sacrifice to wash away, and no explanation for why we're born the way we are.
I believe I said before, this isn't proof he doesn't exist. It just leads me to believe that if he does exist, he's either uncaring or incompetent. Unless you can fathom a good reason for the followers of this god to kill each other over disagreements. You claim that maybe they aren't worshiping the same god, but it's obvious they're trying to. That's the intention.
What is the wisdom in letting your children shed blood over different interpretations of your commandments? Especially since you intend to dump everyone into a lake of fire if they get it wrong.
