Hypothetically, if you could travel in to the future by skipping time (we are always travelling into the future, but can do so at different rates) then I suppose you should be able to travel back in time to where you started, but no further. If you can travel back to before your time, then you can make paradoxes (like the grandfather paradox), which is an impossible situation, so getting to a point where you can do something impossible should be impossible.
