Are IS islamic?

Muslim leaders in the UK are calling on DC (the PM) to re-brand IS as UIS - the Un Islamic State.

Thoughts?

For me this is ridiculous.... these (IS) people are acting in the name of the same god that these muslim leaders are... end of.

If they want an 'in fight' then let them, because that's where the problem is... islam is like a knife, it can be used for good and bad, but a knife is a knife, and the good users of knives need to tell the bad ones to stop, not call for murder weapons to have their name changed from knife to "unKnives" !!!!

It's subjective really, the quran says a lot of vague things about fighting.

It says fight those who fight you but do not transgress.

That sounds simple and straight forward enough but in pretty much any kind of warfare, especially modern warfare, the first definite notice you get that someone is fighting you is that they have just shot a bullet at you or dropped a bomb on you. So if your group of fighters follow the most peaceful interpretation of this verse it's pretty much impossible to win any war.
If you take this verse to mean fight those who fight you (Americans) but do not transgress ( accidentally kill non Americans) then IS are Islamic, they are fighting those nations who fight them even the charity workers and other non combatants from those countries.

Some would argue that the majority of Muslims aren't islamic because they follow the hadiths which influence others laws not mentioned in the quran such as stoning women and executing homosexuals even though the quran itself says nothing is left out of the quran.
