Hello all...I'm new and wanted to say hello. It feels nice to be in a group of like minded people. I hope to learn more and meet some of you...
I'm father just died. He was a life long atheist (so I'm I) but it made me think about things like life after death and such.
His wife was Christian and had a priest come visit him on his dying bed. I felt it was a bit disrespectful of her ,but it did no harm...and made her feel better.
How do others feel about this? She was a bit pushy to get my sister and myself to talk to the priest. We just told him we were not religious and he was ok with that.
It didn't hurt anything to have him pray over my dad, and drip water on his head, but it felt a bit disrespectful of our ideas....should I just see it as something she needed. Like I said, it did no hard. My dad just kinda rolled his eyes and ignored the priest....but we felt a bit ganged up on by the wife and priest. Why do I sometimes feel a bit embarrassed to admit that I'm atheist? I find it hard to believe that we are only 10% of the population?!?
Thanks for your thoughts,
Jules
