Vaccines are a plot by big pharma!

Homeopathy, na I'm not into that rubbish, I know a lot of good has come from medical science, I would probably be dead now if not for medical science. The thing is, just because medical science had brought a lot of good, doesn't mean they are perfect without mistakes being made, they made many mistakes through history, and I know that cannot be helped, but again I don't worship every damn thing they do. My father died in hospital because of a doctor, he developed a blood clot in his lower leg, the doctor on shift forgot to tell the other doctor to administer a intravenous drip to thinned the blood, and of course he died because of that. We only found out because a nurse on shift knew my mum and dad.

Actually, from the sound of your story, the medical science was sound and your father would have survived if not for the absentmindedness of the people involved. So it really isn't a good argument against the medical practices, but if we're talking about mistakes made by hospital staff, sure, they make mistakes that can kill people. I'm very sorry for your loss, but it doesn't really prove the point you're making.

Let's say you do have good, solid evidence that vaccines are really that harmful. Publish it. Present it to the rest of the scientific community. If you're right and your findings stand up to scrutiny, you'll win a nobel prize. So far as I know, only one person has published a paper saying that vaccines are harmful: Andrew Wakefield. His paper was so fraudlant and his practices were so abusive that his medical license was revoked and government officials were considering pressing charges. That's how bad his studies were.

But let's not even look at that: let's just look at history. Smallpox was a dreaded disease until vaccines came around. Now nobody worries about it. Polio crippled people on a regular basis before, but now that we have a vaccine for it, most Americans have never met someone who has had polio. Yellow fever was a deadly disease, too, but since we've had a vaccine for it, we've pushed it to extinction.

If you want to look at current events, that's fine, too. Have you noticed that when large groups of anti-vax people gather together, diseases tend to break out? Measles, mumps, whooping couth..... those are the kinds of things that only seem to happen in groups of anti-vax people.

Yes, these diseases can be deadly. I watched my own little brother come down with septic arthritis from an infected chicken pox sore (this was before there was a chicken pox vaccine). He nearly died and if my mom wasn't observant enough or the emergency room wasn't quick enough, that's exactly what would have happened. We have more than close calls. It's true, these diseases aren't as dangerous as they used to be. That's because most people have been vaccinated, making it difficult to spread them. I suggest looking up herd immunity if you want to learn more about it.
