The beginning of an Egyptian creation myth:
The beginning of the Babylonian creation myth:
And finally, the beginning of the islamic creation myth:
All of these accounts are myths which have no scientific content whatsoever. Wishful thinking can be used to impute scientific content into any of them. For example:
Watery chaos? Thats like plasma!! The Ancient Egyptians knew about advanced physics!!
Apsu and Mummu-Tiamat? Thats a reference to matter and antimatter (or positive and negative charges...or whatever)!! The Ancient Babylonians knew about advanced science!!
The bullshit that mo3 is spouting is every bit as nonsensical as the two comments above.
Quote:In the beginning there was only the swirling watery chaos, called Nu. Out of these chaotic waters rose Atum, the sun god of the city of Heliopolis. It is believed that he created himself, using his thoughts and will. In the watery chaos, Atum found no place on which to stand. In the place where he first appeared, he created a hill.Full text here.
The beginning of the Babylonian creation myth:
Quote:When on high the heaven had not been named,Full text here.
Firm ground below had not been called by name,
When primordial Apsu, their begetter,
And Mummu-Tiamat, she who bore them all,
Their waters mingled as a single body,
No reed hut had sprung forth, no marshland had appeared,
None of the gods had been brought into being,
And none bore a name, and no destinies determined--
Then it was that the gods were formed in the midst of heaven.
Lahmu and Lahamu were brought forth, by name they were called.
And finally, the beginning of the islamic creation myth:
Quote:In the time before time, God was. And when God wants to create something, all he needs to say is "Be", and it becomes. So it was that God created the world and the heavens. He made all the creatures, which walk, swim. Crawl and fly on the face of the earth. He made the angels, and the sun, moon and the stars to dwell in the universe. And consider, as the Qur'an says, how God poured down the rain in torrents, and broke up the soil to bring forth the corm, the grapes and other vegetation; the olive and the palm, the fruit trees and the grass.Full text here.

He who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.
