It is no different than setting standards on street legal cars. No one is allowed to drive on a public road with a Hummer 5 lanes wide, nor would they be allowed to own a jet or tank. And if the road is too congested we look for ways to reduce that congestion.
The volume of guns also matter. Your rightful accepting screening and training means nothing if you are trying to use a fork to nail jello to the wall. The laws are meaningless if the flooded market creates a game of whack a mole.
"Um", ascribing police killings to gun manufacturers needs much more support than hypothetical Hummers five lanes wide and "um" comments.
UGGGGGGG.
You are trying to insert a deliberate conspiracy into this when I am not claiming every single person who disagrees with me is doing something out of meanness. I am speaking in terms of a collective climate based on conditions.
The gun manufactures are no different than any other business. Just like the CEO of Walmart their duty is to their shareholders and the CEOs and reward the CEOs for increasing sales and expanding the market.
Now, there is also a religious mentality in this because of how humans behave. Group cooperation creates more access to resources, more resources more opportunity to replicate that pattern you see as beneficial. The downside to this evolutionary behavior, is that far too often it does not take into account other groups that compete to do other things based on their pattern seeking.
So again, it is not a matter of always ill intent but bad conditions.
But there are also opportunists like pedophile priests who use their position to abuse others, or political opportunists like Stalin or Hitler who manipulate populist ideas only to create a monopoly themselves. There are also EVEN IF NOT ALL, business that have owners who simply are greedy. Others may not be aware of what their actions do and simply think they got it right, without being aware of how their actions affect others. Just like one priest may not molest himself, but will protect his buddy because he thinks "hey he's priest, we never do anything wrong". Same with cops, you can say cops do bad things, but other cops may be protecting them not because they are intentionally covering up, but when you are part of a group, humans have a tendency to protect that group.
All aspects of society can be subject to a bad climate, which can be both intentional and unintentional in that overlap.
