Not to derail the thread, but I've just waded through the Godhead chapter in the Tanners book, The Changing World of Mormonism, and the LDS 'take' on the nature of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is about the most confusing mess of gobbledygook I have ever come across in any religion.
I'm not sure even a real god could sort through the mess the Mormons have coughed up and figure out whether they are Holy Spirit blasphemers or not, and a real god wouldn't dare ask any of the Mormons involved in defining their faith over the decades because their confusion on the matter is EPIC.
The more I read the Tanner's book about LDS the more I am thinking it is not a religion. I'm not sure what it is, but 'religion' is looking like it can be ruled out completely.
